I retired from the military after spending four years on active duty in the Marine Corps and twenty-two years, part-time and full-time, in the Illinois Army National Guard. I served in Iraq from 2005 to 2006 with the 2-130th Infantry Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After retiring from the military, I decided to attend law school and graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law.
After graduation, I practiced business and employment law in Carbondale, Illinois before joining the faculty of SIU School of Law to reestablish its Veterans’ Legal Assistance Program.
While I continue to teach as an adjunct professor at SIU Simmons Law School, I primarily focus my time and effort on assisting entrepreneurs proactively protecting their small businesses and nonprofits. I am fascinated with advances in technology in the legal profession and continually study ways to provide legal services more efficiently and cost-effectively to small business owners.
I am admitted to practice law in Illinois and Missouri, providing legal representation across various areas.
I have an addiction to the paisley pattern and if you see me most any day, I will be wearing a paisley shirt!

With advances in technology, we can help with drafting documents and agreements for a reasonable flat fee.
NONPROFIT LAW
We help nonprofits in Illinois and Missouri form their legal nonprofit entity, register with the Attorney General, draft the initial corporate Bylaws and resolutions, and file for 501(c)(3) status. We continue to assist by maintaining the annual corporate records and serving as the registered agent.
TRADEMARKS
Failing to protect your intellectual property can dilute your brand identity and cost you money. Your protected intellectual property also adds value to your business, should you decide to sell it. We can assist you with a search to determine the strength of your current business name and logo, file your trademark application, and monitor it until it is registered.
REAL ESTATE
Buying a home, rental property, or commercial property comes with various levels of legal challenges. We provide contract review and drafting for real estate purchases. If you have rental property, we can assist with drafting and reviewing lease agreements. If you have tenants who aren't working out, we can help with an eviction to help you move on to a better tenant.
